How can I address issues related to inaudible character voices?

Modified on Tue, 25 Jun at 3:59 AM

We've all been there - you pour your heart into filming, but then realize the dialogue is a little muffled.  Don't worry, it happens!

Here's the thing: clear voices are essential for keeping viewers engaged in your story.  If they can't understand what your characters are saying, it can be frustrating and take away from the whole experience.

There are a few ways to address inaudible dialogue:

  • Re-recording: If possible, consider re-recording any scenes where the voices are muffled.
  • Sound Mixing: A skilled sound mixer can sometimes work magic and boost the volume of quiet voices.
  • Subtitles: Subtitles can be a great way to ensure viewers catch every word, even if the voices are a bit soft.

The best approach will depend on your specific situation.  But the most important thing is to take steps to make sure your characters are loud and clear!
